Community Resiliency Model Skills for Everyday Wellness: Learning CRM in Connection
Your body carries wisdom.
The Community Resiliency Model® (CRM) offers a practical, biology-based way to understand stress and strengthen well-being. CRM helps people recognize what is happening within the nervous system and use simple wellness skills to return toward greater balance.
These skills can support individuals, families, caregivers, helping professionals, healthcare teams, and communities experiencing ongoing stress, pain, adversity, or trauma.

Your Body Is Responding
Stress and trauma can move the nervous system out of balance. You may feel anxious, irritable, overwhelmed, exhausted, disconnected, numb, or unable to think clearly.
These reactions reflect common human biology. They are not evidence of weakness, failure, or poor character.
CRM helps us:
Notice sensations and nervous-system shifts
Recognize when we have moved outside our Resilient Zone
Use practical skills to support regulation
Strengthen our capacity to respond to stress
Create more space to receive care, love, validation, joy, and support
The goal is not to feel calm all the time. The goal is to recognize what is happening, respond with skill, and increase our ability to return to the Resilient Zone more often and remain there longer.
The Six CRM Wellness Skills
CRM teaches six body-based wellness skills:
These skills can be practiced throughout the day. Consistent practice helps us become more familiar with our bodies and more able to recognize what supports balance.
Practice. Notice. Practice. Repeat.
Capacity Can Change
Our capacity is influenced by biology, life experiences, relationships, stress, access to resources, and the environments in which we live and work.
Some experiences place additional weight on the nervous system. Other experiences help restore and expand our capacity.
Support may include:
Love and meaningful connection
Safety and validation
Joy, gratitude, and positive memories
Rest and restorative experiences
Community care
Access to practical resources
Consistent CRM practice
Capacity includes our ability to respond to what life requires and our ability to receive the care and support available to us.
